This is a parenthesis: )
Parentheses are used quite commonly in writing. It is used to indicate something in writing that relates to the same topic, but isn’t exactly the same! For example:
I used to eat five eggs for breakfast, (Of course, I was always quite full after).
When he was buying chocolates, (for his brother), he saw a large, wild lynx.
When a bird flew into his window, (the bird was rather stupid), he kept it as a pet.
Punctuation used with parentheses is simple; when the parenthesis is used in a separate sentence, put the punctuation mark at the end inside. When it’s not, put it outside the last parenthesis. For example:
She goes to the gym every day. (But she never goes on Saturday.)
He went to buy 30 chocolates. (Of course, they weren’t ALL for him!)
Those parenthesis-punctuation are used inside the last parenthesis. Here is an example of when it’s not:
She used to work for a shopping store, (called SuperSeis), when she lost her job and decided to moved to Brazil.
