A “Phishing” attack is not what it sounds like. It’s when people online literally trick you into giving them money and account details.

Here’s an example:

You go on your computer to do your work, and you start typing here and there little bits and notes you need to do to earn money.

Suddenly, a little message like this pops through:

“Login to your Amazon account. People are trying to steal from it.”

And then, below, is the link to your Amazon account login. Or so you think.

Quickly, you type in your password. Let’s say it’s 123456789, and your Username, (let’s just say that is Yu786), and then a little button pops up saying; Now no-one can steal.

But phishing accounts is when people do exactly that. They will say someone is stealing from an account, and send you a fake login link, which looks pretty much the same as your own.

Most of the time, trying to protect the money in their account, people dumbly do exactly what the phishers want: they login!

And, of course, it’s tracked. So people can see the logins and passwords that you type in.

Now, they can login to your account, and steal not your money itself, but be able to buy things through that account. They buy; you pay.

And it’s not just Amazon. Many different Online accounts and Online-shopping things have greedy piggies, ready to snatch up money if they get the chance to.

To avoid Phishing, make sure a link is valid, and actually part of the thing you’re logging into… Or else risk losing all of your money!
