This is my book report on the book; “A Series Of Unfortunate Events,The Penultimate Peril”, written by Lemony Snicket:

The three Baudelaires, Violet, Klaus and Sunny, were picked up on Briny Beach by a taxi. The driver was Kit Snicket, and she drove them to Hotel Denouement; the Last Safe Place.

She told them to disguise as workers there, and spy on all the people, and find out who JS was. They did, but then Kit had to leave, and they entered there themselves.

There were two hotel managers; Frank and Ernest. Ernest was on the villainous side, and Frank was with VFD. But Frank and Ernest were identical brothers, and so it was impossible to tell the difference between them.

They worked as concierges there, and went back and forth, helping the people. They met several people they’d met before, including Charles and Sir, from the Lucky Smells Lumber Mill, the teachers from Prufrock Academy, Jerome Squalor, Esme Squalor, Carmelita Spats, several citizens from the Village of Fowl Devotations, Hal, and many other people. But they couldn’t get much information from them.

Later in the night, they realized there were actually three identical hotel managers: Frank, Ernest and Dewey. Dewey was working as a secret librarian, storing tons of information beneath the hotel, where no fire could burn it down.

But then Count Olaf arrived, and shot Dewey with a harpoon gun, which killed him, because he wouldn’t give the password to a certain locked door.

The Baudelaires, the next day, were put on trial by Justice Strauss, whom, they realized, was the real JS. Count Olaf was also put on trial, but the trial was useless, because the two other judges there were helpers of Count Olaf.

Count Olaf tried to force Justice Strauss to tell the password, but she refused. Then, Count Olaf set the hotel on fire.

The Baudelaires tried to warn everyone to leave, but many did not. They went to the top deck, and pushed the boat off the roof, with Count Olaf inside, into the ocean below.

They were trapped with Count Olaf but, the further away he was from other people, the less likely chance there was that he could kill anyone else.

This book was the same as the others. I’d rate it 5.342/10.
